Roselyn Charlotte (Chase) St.Louis, 88, died on Sunday, October 26, 2008 at Birchwood Terrace Health Care in Burlington.

Roselyn was born the 5th and youngest child of Frederick Louis Chase and Fanny Juckett Whiting Chase on October 16, 1920 in Springfield, VT. She is predeceased (May 3, 2004) by her husband of 47 years, Merrill M. St.Louis, sisters, Ella Louise Whiting Chase and Sarah Polly Chase, and brothers, Henry Byron Chase and Louis (Duke) Frederick Chase. Her first husband, Wayne F. Hunton (late) of Orlando, FL., died in 2000.

She is survived by her sons; Robert Louis Hunton & wife Julie of Tucson, AZ, Alan Schuyler Hunton and wife Barbara of South Burlington, VT, and J. Thomas St.Louis of Marlborough, MA, her grandsons; Robert Louis Hunton II and wife Sandra, Peter Lawrence Hunton, Schuyler Sheng Hunton, Matthew James St.Louis and Maxwell Thomas St.Louis, and her granddaughter; Maria Emilia Hunton, her great-grandson; Will Hunton, her great-granddaughter; Marissa Hunton.

Roselyn was a native daughter of Vermont, living and working in the state all her life. She was a loving wife and dedicated mother, a proud grandmother and honored great-grandmother.

Roselyn was a remarkable woman; born on a farm in southern Vermont and raised by her father (until his death in 1940) and her brothers, Henry and Louis. Her mother died when Roselyn was just 9 years old. Roselyn lived with and was mentored and supported during her formative years by a loving and dedicated couple, Bill and Peg Jensen (late) formerly of Chestnut Hill and Danvers, Massachusetts; having raised her through adulthood.

Roselyn was a resident, community leader, and realtor in the town/city of South Burlington, Vermont for nearly 50 years. She was a consummate organizer and volunteer; working with the Chittenden County Red Cross swimming program, various cub and boy scout organizations, South Burlington Boy’s/Youth League Baseball and Basketball programs, Central School, Orchard School and South Burlington High School PTA, South Burlington High School Rebel Boosters, numerous committee and board positions at the First Congregational Church of Burlington, Past High Priestess of the Ladies’ Oriental Shrine of North America.

She was well known and respected throughout the Burlington area and the state of Vermont; recipient of the South Burlington Educator’s Association Lay-Person of the Year Award in 1967, lifetime member of the Northwestern Vermont Board of Realtors, Past President of the state of Vermont Board of Realtors, Region I President of the National Board of Realtors. During her years in the real estate business, she was an award-winning representative for several South Burlington/Williston firms, including; Hal Benson Real Estate, Arthur Benoit Realty, Charles Bolton Real Estate, and for many years with Mac and Celine Teeson/Teeson Realty of South Burlington.

Roselyn’s family wishes to express deep appreciation to the loving and dedicated management, staffing and care teams of the Converse Home in Burlington, where Mom lived for three wonderful years, and to the management, staff, and caregivers of Birchwood Terrace Healthcare of Burlington.

Memorial Services will be held on Saturday, November 1, 2008 at 11:00 am in the First Congregational Church, 38 S. Winooski Avenue, Burlington, Vermont 05401. Private committal services will be held at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the local Ronald MacDonald House located at 16 S.
