  VIEW/SEND CONDOLENCES

Adrien B. Thibault, 86, of Burlington and Leesburg, FL, passed away peacefully and joined the Lord on Tuesday, November 4, 2008 surrounded by his loving family at Fletcher Allen Health Care.

He was born in Jonesville, VT on February 7, 1922 the son of the late Hevre and Robella (Ruel) Thibault. As a young farmer living in Shoreham he was very active in St. Genevieve Church as an usher and was the local 4-H leader. He was married to Roseanne Menard on September 23, 1942 in Bridport, VT.

After establishing his family in Burlington, Adrien was one of the founding members of the Vermont Home Builders Association. He served as treasurer, vice president, president, and senior life director. He was the second person in the state to get the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Home Builders. He built, as Thibault Construction, affordable housing for numerous families who otherwise may not have been able to experience the dream of owning their own home. He also received various awards for the custom homes he built. He left a lasting legacy by naming streets after his children and grandchildren among the developments he built.

Adrien felt strongly about supporting his local community and had an unselfish dedication to youth activities in the North End. He greatly enjoyed watching and assisting youth little leaguers and was a supporter and recognized contributor to Schifilliti Park, and Rice Memorial High School baseball where he donated and built the team dugouts. Adrien loved baseball and was an avid Boston Red Sox fan.

Adrien and Roseanne enjoyed traveling the USA; their claim to fame being they visited all 50 states.

He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, 4th Degree and a lifetime member of the Elks BPOE 916.
His greatest joy was the time spent with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was more than just Pepe, he was like a father figure to his four grandsons whom he was very proud of. Adrien was a joy to be around. He will be remembered as a loving and caring husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and brother.

Adrien is survived by his wife of 66 years Roseanne Thibault of Burlington; their two daughters Janet Lopes and husband Gerald Dupont of Burlington and Sandra Gazo and husband Jeffrey Nickerson of Burlington; his grandchildren Raymond “Randy” Lopes of Burlington, James Lopes of Colchester, Matthew Gazo of Colchester, and Timothy Gazo of Colchester; eleven great-grandchildren Meaghan, Dennis, Mackenzee, Haydn, Andrew, Emily, and Sam Lopes; Leland, Louis, Isabella, and Emma Gazo. He is also survived by his siblings Gerard Thibault of Massachusetts, Charles Thibault of Starksboro, Cecile Young of Burlington, Fleurette Romprey of Winooski, and Andre Thibault of Burlington, and by numerous nieces, nephews and in-laws. He was predeceased by three brothers Real, Ulysses, and Claude Thibault.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, November 7, 2008 at 10:00am in St. Mark’s Church, Burlington with interment to follow in New Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Visiting hours will be held today from 4:00 to 7:00pm at the Ready Funeral & Cremation Service South Chapel, 261 Shelburne Rd., Burlington. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Adrien’s memory may be made to the Heineberg Community Center, 14 Heineberg Rd., Burlington, VT 05408.
