  VIEW/SEND CONDOLENCES

Jean’s journey on this earth ended on Wednesday November 5, 2008 at the Vermont Respite House after a courageous battle with cancer. She passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family.

She was born in Burlington VT on March 20 1941 to the late Daniel E. and Mary (Tully) Mahoney. She worked for years at McKenzie Meat Packing Company side by side with her father.

Jean devoted her life to raising her children and during that time was a volunteer for several years with the American Red Cross.

After her children were grown she was employed by the Chittenden County Superior Court as a receptionist, serving the public, attorneys and judges from all over the state.

In the words of one of her former co workers:
Jean is undoubtedly one of the loveliest and kindest people I have ever met. God blessed her with the ability to reach out to all types of people. That's why she was so good at what she did! She dealt with all kinds of people at court. Somehow, she managed to handle doing so by making every encounter both helpful and friendly..She always made sure people walked away with dignity. That's a rare gift.

Along with being a devoted Mom, Jean was a proud grandmother. She loved visiting her older grandchildren in Kentucky at Christmas time, traveling to Florida, spending time in California with her son Chris and in Burlington spending time with her granddaughter Ellen Olivia. (Nanny) will be deeply missed.

Jean is survived by her eldest son Glenn Tessier and his wife Tami and their 3 children Brendan, Connor and Aubrie of Louisville, KY. Her daughter Tracy Towers and her husband Peter and daughter Ellen of Colchester. Her son Christopher Tessier and his partner David Miller of Long Beach CA. Her sisters Ann Woglom of Laconia NH, Mary Jo Mahoney and her partner Geo Taft of Colchester VT, Ellen Mahoney of Colchester, her brothers John Mahoney and his wife Anne of Somerfield, Florida, Daniel Edward (Ned) Mahoney and his wife Pauline of Burlington, several nieces and nephews and her dear friends Gary and Jane Farrell and their family.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 8, 2008 at St. Francis Xavier Roman Catholic Church, St. Peter St, Winooski. In Jean’s memory donations may be sent to the Vermont Respite House, 99 Allen Brook Lane, Williston, VT 05495. Visiting hours will be on Friday, November 7th from 2-4 pm & 7-9 pm at the Ready Funeral Home, South Chapel, 261 Shelburne Rd, Burlngton.
