TIMOTHY J . JURMU, 51, of Pelkie, MI. passed away Wednesday, July 20, 2005 as the result of a private plane crash in Dallas, Texas. He was born in Oak Park, MI. June 18, 1954, a son of the late Paul H. and Martha A. (Kemppainen) Jurmu.
Tim was a member and elder in the Pelkie Gospel Hall church in Pelkie, Michigan for over 30 years. At the time of his death, Tim was the operations manager for the Baraga Telephone Company. He married the former Mary A Oikarinen in 1979 and she preceded him in death in 2002. On July 3, 2003, he married the former Cathy Bolton. Tim was a dedicated father and adjectives are inadequate to describe him. He was a devout Christian whose easy smile, sense of humor and caring manner provided a window to his personality. He loved to dance, was an avid and good golfer, and lived his Christian beliefs on a daily basis. Always willing to help and offer a hand without personal concern, Tim will be deeply missed by many.
Tim is survived by his loving wife, Cathy; children, Aron, Nathan and Hannah, all at home; brothers, Paul (Joan) Jurmu,of Wellington, CO., and John (Grace) Jurmu of Sandusky, MI.; sisters, Ruth Orr of Salt Lake City, Utah, Anne (Doug) Morin of South Range, MI., Debbie (Tim) Sarris of Walled Lake, MI., Rebecca Jurmu of Ferndale, MI., Donna (Mark) Reynolds of Waterford, MI.,and Mardi (Brendon) O'Brian of Dewitt, MI.; stepchildren, Daniel Bolton of Marquette and Jennifer Bolton of Germantown, WI. Tim is also survived by several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins and a host of friends. His brother, Mark, preceded him in death.
A memorial funeral service and celebration of Tim's life was held Wednesday, July 27, 2005 at 3 p.m. at the Reid Funeral Service and Chapel, L'Anse with pastors Gene Bacon and Jerry Bishop officiating. Burial took place in the Pelkie Cemetery, Pelkie, MI. The family received friends Tuesday evening July 26, 2005 from 5 until 7 p.m. and for 1 hour prior to the services on Wednesday at the Reid Funeral Service and Chapel, L'Anse.
The family suggests memorials in Tim's honor be directed to the Pelkie Gospel Hall. Envelopes were available at the funeral chapel.
Following the services on Wednesday, the family invited friends to a luncheon and fellowship in the Harrington Gathering Room located at the funeral facility. The Reid Funeral Service and Chapel have been entrusted with arrangements. Mr. Jurmu's obituary may be also viewed and condolences sent to the family at www.rfsc.net
