William Johnny Williams, Sr. was born August 6, 1932 in Riverside, Texas to Arnette C. and Irene (Burke) Williams and passed away May 10, 2009 in Houston, Texas. He was one of six siblings. He was known as “the music man” and loved gospel blue grass music. He retired from Benjamin Moore Paint Company after 37 years and moved back to Oakhurst in 1997. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, the outdoors at home and riding his tractor. He especially loved and adored his grandchildren and great grandson. He was very interested in all parts of his church. Survivors include his wife Dottie, daughter Judy Williams Landrum, son John Williams Jr., grandchildren; Victoria Fruechtl, Cody Williams, Wendy Guest and Kasi Williams Bachelder, nine great-grandchildren and brother Joe Williams. He was preceded in death by his first wife Betty Sue Williams and parents. Services will be held at Oakhurst Full Gospel Church on Wednesday May 13, 2009 at 2 PM with the Rev. Glen Cooksey officiating. Interment will follow at the Center Hill Cemetery under the direction of Sam Houston Memorial Funeral Home. The family will receive friends Tuesday May 12, 2009 from 5 to 8 PM at the Oakhurst Full Gospel Church. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Oakhurst Full Gospel Church Building Fund at 441 FM 9465 in Oakhurst TX 77359.
