  VIEW/SEND CONDOLENCES

Birdette (Bird) was born in Huntsville, Texas December 9, 1916, the seventh child of Frank and Lula Pegoda’s twelve children. She was a people person – never met a stranger, always had a smile on her face, and could talk to anyone about anything. She was interested in everything and everyone around her. She was a wonderful cook and well known for her cakes.

Bird was preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, Leslie (Red) Alexander, and her beloved son, Leslie Jr. (Buddy) Alexander. She is survived by daughter and husband, Kay and Charles Poe; grandson and wife, Ed and Sheila Alexander; granddaughter and husband, Joyce and Tim Ervin; grandson and wife Frank and Sylvia Alexander. And “Grandma” was “GG” (by which she was best known) to great grandchildren Stephanie Alexander, Natalie Alexander, Lesley Alexander; Taylor Ervin, Connor Ervin; Andrew Alexander, Madison Alexander; and great-great granddaughter Nevaeh Alexander. These grandchildren were her life. She is also survived by sisters Erie Cotton and Charlene Gorman; and many nieces and nephews, and dear friends.

In lieu of flowers, Birdette would be pleased to have donations made in her memory to Union Hill Church/Bath Cemetery Association for the upkeep of this historical church and cemetery.

Sincere thanks go to her loving caregivers Livia Rotari and Stela Mircea.
Funeral services will be at 4 PM on Wednesday, May 27 at the Chapel of Sam Houston Memorial Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Bath Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday evening 5 PM until 7 PM.
