| | | Noma Lee Slott was born October 12, 1926 in Abilene, TX to Earnie Lee and Lula Mae Becker and passed away on June 6, 2009 in Conroe, TX.
She is survived by daughter and husband, Linda and Jimmy Welborn, son and wife, Danny and Pat Slott, daughter-in-law, Liz Stigall; granddaughters Tressa Slott and companion, Roxanne Dahse, Tammy and husband, Todd Brown, Juilie and husband, Michael Acreman and Bobbie Jo Stigall; grandsons, Kevin Slott and wife, Nicole, Clifford Slott and wife Heather, Clint Slott and Candace Koonce, Sammy Welborn; great-grandchildren Clayton, Wes, and Kellie Brown, Kurston and Gracie Acreman and Ayden and Hunter Slott; brothers, Robert Becker and wife Dorothy, Kenneth Becker, Jody Becker and wife Jenny; sister Betty and husband Joe Lampo. She was preceded in death by husband of 34 years Sam Slott; son, Sammy Wayne Slott and her parents.
Generations of those in and around New Waverly knew Mrs. Slott as Momma Slott or Mee-Maw. She has owned and operated Slotts Grocery for 53 years and had even worked at the store seven or more years before owning it. Mrs. Slott was one of a very few who could answer, help, and direct anybody with questions or directions when in need. She was a staunch supporter of the Walker County Fair Association. Her assistance with Buying Groups or through the store has helped many children of Walker and Montgomery County.
Mrs. Slott was born in Abilene and came to New Waverly as a child. Her family later moved to Bryan and she returned to New Waverly when she and Sam were married.
Services will be held 10:00am Wednesday, June 10 at Sam Houston Memorial Funeral Home. Interment will be at Elmina Cemetery. Family will receive friends from 5 – 7:00pm with a Rosary beginning at 7:00pm at the funeral home.
