| | | Helen Marie Swindle, born to Clarence and Olive Parker (Batson) in League City, Texas on May 1, 1943 passed away on August 17, 2009 in Conroe, Texas at the age of 66.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Ted Swindle, younger sister, Lela Duke, brother-in-law, Milton Coburn and nephew, Kerry Duke. Marie is survived by Lela’s daughters: DeDee Davis, husband Jerry and son Jake; D’Anne Smith, husband Kelby, daughters, KaDee, Lauren and granddaughter Karlee. She is also survived by sister, Ida Beth Coburn, her daughter Debbie Merchant, husband Donald, son Guy Craig Moses and wife Amanda, daughter Tana Hagar and husband John, their children Eli and Codi, daughter Cassie Bellamy and husband Wayne; and her son Richard “Ricky” Coburn, wife Denise, daughters Dominique and Hayley and son Lucas; brother, Monroe Parker, wife Mary Ann, children Ronnie Brinkley, Larry Brinkley and Kristi Cox and numerous great-nieces and nephews.
Marie graduated from Sam Houston State University with a Master’s Degree in education and taught in the local school districts until retiring from Huntsville Independent School District. She was a member of University Heights Baptist Church in Huntsville, Texas and actively participated in the Abundant Life Sunday Bible Study Class where members became like family to her. She will be missed by all who knew her.
Services will be Friday, August 21, 2009, 10:00 AM at Sam Houston Memorial Funeral Home in Huntsville, Texas with Pastor Don Shannon officiating. Visitation will be held Thursday, August 20, 2009, 5:30 – 7:30 PM also at Sam Houston Memorial Funeral Home.
Interment will be in Mayes Addition of Oakwood Cemetery in Huntsville, Texas following the service.
