| | | James Slott, of New Waverly, passed away at Memorial Hermann Hospital in Houston, Texas on Saturday October 17, 2009 of heart failure. He was 63 years old. Jimmy was born August 1, 1946 in Huntsville, Texas to Pete and Helen Slott. He lived in New Waverly all his life.
He was a 1966 graduate of New Waverly High School. After graduation he worked as a painter for Sprayberry Construction. In 1968, he was employed at Sam Houston State University as a vending routesman. He worked there until his retirement in 1999. He then pursued his interests- fishing, raising hay and cattle, and gardening. He loved spending time with his granddaughter, Madison. "Pepaw" always had time to take her riding on the tractor or scooter and swinging. She was the apple of his eye. He also was a faithful member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.
He is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Mary Ann; his son, Michael Slott; his daughter and son-in-law, Amy and Chad Wood; and granddaughter, Madison Wood, all of New Waverly. He is also survived by his sister, Frances Slott of Houston and Father-in-law, Adam Billnoske of New Waverly. Jimmy was preceded in death by his parents, Pete and Helen Slott and Mother-in-law, Sadie Mae Billnoske.
Pallbearers will be Raymond Belinowski, Joe Billnoske, Steven Billnoske, Richard Bilnoski, Sam Cunningham, and Terry Giese. Honorary pallbearers include Roy Arnold, Larry Ellisor, Buck Hightower, James Scott, and Martin Slott.
Visitation will be held at Sam Houston Memorial Funeral Home of Huntsville on Monday evening, October 19, 2009 from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m., followed by a wake service and rosary. Funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, October 20, 2009 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in New Waverly with Rev. Daokim Nguyen officiating. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Elmina Cemetery in New Waverly.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to M. D. Anderson Cancer Center, P.O. Box 4486 Houston, Texas 77210-4486.
