Mr. Robert "Roy" Hall passed on after a long battle with cancer on October 20, 2009. He was born on May 18, 1934 in Seymour, Texas to Mr. John R. Hall and Mrs. Gladys Mineta Bush Hall. Roy graduated from Huntsville High School in 1951 and then went to work for Hughes Tools in Houston. In 1958 he moved to Bryan, TX and went to work as a patrolman with the Bryan Police Department. From 1959 -1961 Roy worked for the Baytown Police Department in Baytown, TX before moving to La Porte, TX in 1961 and retiring after 26 years of service as the assistant Chief of Police for La Porte PD in 1987. Roy met his wife Peggy Reed of La Porte in 1973 and they were married December 22, 1987. Roy and Peggy returned to Roy's family land, built a home, and retired in New Waverly, TX in the Boswell community. Here he began raising commercial cattle until 1990 when he switched to raising registered Beef Master Cattle and became a member of Beef Master Breeders Universal. Roy was a member of the Masonic Lodge #857 A.F. & A.M. of La Porte, TX. He was also a 32nd degree, Scottish Rite. Roy is survived by his wife of 22 years Peggy Hall, daughters Cindy Meadows and husband Lonny Meadows of Pearland, TX and Milly Webb of Cleveland, TX; grandchildren Heather (Meadows) and husband Kelin Webb, Josh Meadows and Tiffany Wells, Jake Meadows, Dave Webb, B.J. Webb, Michael Webb, Mat Webb, brother-in-law Cecil Konkel of New Braunsfel, nephew Robert Konkel and numerous cousins and friends. He is preceded in death by parents John R. and Gladys Hall, sister Wanda Konkel and nephew Robbie Konkel.
Visitation and services will be held at Sam Houston Memorial Funeral Home in Huntsville, TX. Visitation will be held on Friday October 23, 2009 from 5pm - 7:30pm. Services will then be held Saturday October 24, 2009 at 10am. Roy will be laid to rest next to his Mother and Dad in Boswell Cemetery.
Services will be assisted by Pallbearers; grandsons Jake Meadows, Josh Meadows, and Kelin Webb; close friends Dan Akin, Clay Hoffpauir, and David Hoffpauir; and nephews Kevin Traylor and Eddie Traylor. Honorary Pallbearers are long-time friends Edgar "Mac" McNabb, Joe Ellisor, Roy Arnold, Billy Reece, Bill Laney, and cousin Red Traylor.
