| | | Donald David Hill was born November 30, 1938 in Coin, Iowa, the son of Vernon C. and Enid (VanValin) Hill. He passed away on Thursday morning, January 1, 2009 at the Montgomery County Memorial Hospital in Red Oak, Iowa at the age of 70 years, 1 month and 2 days.
Don grew up in rural Page County and graduated from Amity High School in College Springs in 1958. On May 9, 1959, he was united in marriage to Janet Eilers in Clarinda, Iowa. This union was blessed with two sons, Craig and Chris.
Don farmed for a while then went to work at the Clarinda Mental Health Institute. He later worked for the Green Bay Lumber Company before spending over 30 years at Lisle Corporation in Clarinda. He was a member of St. Johns Lutheran Church and enjoyed fishing, working outside in the yard and garden, and woodworking.
Don was preceded in death by his parents; his in-laws, Harold and Lena Eilers; a brother, William Hill; and two sisters-in-law, Dorothy Miller and Ruth Stone.
Survivors include his wife Janet of Clarinda, Iowa; two sons, Craig Hill and his wife Teresa of Clarinda, Iowa, Chris Hill and his wife Angie of Liberty, Missouri; five grandchildren, Tyler and Casey Hill of Clarinda, Iowa, Kip, Cam and Libby Hill all of Liberty, Missouri; two sisters, Martha Sage and her husband George of Bolivar, Missouri, Beverly Kidder and her husband Bud of Sunrise Beach, Missouri; a brother, Jerry Hill and his wife Eva of Mission, Texas; two brothers-in-law, Kenny Stone of Red Oak, Iowa and Jack Miller of Clarinda, Iowa; along with many other relatives and friends.
