Leora Caroline Mothershead was born November 28, 1918 in Lowden, Iowa, the daughter of John Carl and Eleanor Marie (Bunge) Hein. She passed away on Tuesday morning, January 13, 2009 at the Bryan-LGH East Medical Center in Lincoln, Nebraska at the age of 89 years, 1 month and 16 days.

Leora grew up in the Lowden area and attended school through the eighth grade at the Lutheran Parochial School in Lowden. On February 4, 1947, she was united in marriage to Noble Harmon Mothershead in Lowden, Iowa. The couple lived in Lowden until 1961 when they moved to the farm north of Bedford. This union was blessed with a son, Noble Tommy.

Leora worked as a telephone operator for a short time. She then helped Noble with the farm. She was an active member of the Bedford United Methodist Church. She read her bible and faithfully did daily devotions. The love of her life was her three grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband Noble in January of 2008.

Survivors include her son, Noble Tommy Mothershead of Bedford, Iowa; her grandchildren, Noble Tommy Mothershead, II of Bedford, Iowa, Kandi Mothershead and her fiancé Jeremy Wichman of Bedford, Iowa, Brandi Mothershead of Bedford, Iowa; a sister, Eunice Morden and her husband George of Lowden, Iowa; two brothers, Harvey Hein of Lowden, Iowa and Gary Hein and his wife Faith of Marion, Iowa; along with many other relatives and friends.
