| | | Newell C. De Sart, age 89 of Shenandoah, Iowa was born March 21, 1919 in Illinois, the son of Frank and Katie (Smith) De Sart. He passed away on Saturday evening, February 14, 2009 at the Immanuel Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska.
As a young boy, Newell came with his family to rural Shenandoah. He attended Prairie Glen, Centennial and Fairview Country Schools and then Shenandoah High School. On March 11, 1940, he was married to Virginia Ross in Savannah, Missouri. Newell was a farmer and worked hard his entire life. He was a member of the Shenandoah Presbyterian Church, the Eagles Club and the Shenandoah Elks Lodge.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Virginia in 2006; two sisters, Evelyn and Beulah; and a niece, Pamela Helm.
Survivors include his nieces, Barbara Bloomfield of Blair, Nebraska, Marilyn Lewis of Omaha, Nebraska, Judith Herrick of Tarkio, Missouri, Cheryl Stubbs of Red Oak, Iowa; a nephew, Donald Swanson of Kansas City, Missouri; special friends, Ruby Crane of Shenandoah, Trent and Donna Tiemeyer and daughters Jessica and Ashley of Farragut, Iowa; along with other relatives and friends.
