| | | Derald Hayden Rust was born August 14, 1942 in Solo, Missouri, the son of William Ray and Zella Naomi (Erwin) Rust. He passed away on Wednesday morning, June 17, 2009 at the Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha at the age of 66 years, 10 months and 3 days.
Derald grew up in the Cabool, Missouri area and graduated from Cabool High School in 1960. He enlisted in the United States Navy right out of high school and served for 22 years. Upon retirement, he attended the University of Nebraska at Kearney and received his Bachelor of Science Degree in education. On December 30, 1967, he was united in marriage to Arula Kaighin in Springfield, Missouri. This union was blessed with two children, Shawna and Marci. Derald was most recently employed as a science teacher at the Shenandoah High School. He was a member of MOAA and FRA.
Derald was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter, Felicia Lynn Rust; and a sister, Gail Rae Rust.
Survivors include his wife, Arula (ARLA) of Shenandoah, Iowa; two daughters, Shawna Rust of Cabool, Missouri and Marci Davis and her husband Scott of Lincoln, Nebraska; four grandchildren, Skyler Cunningham, Dylan Cunningham, Emma Davis and Connor Davis; two sisters, Renee Pearson and her husband Randy of Cabool, Missouri and Karen Rust of Cabool, Missouri; along with many other relatives and friends.
