Harold Eugene Duncan was born February 13, 1934 in Indianapolis, Indiana, the son of Charles Franklin and Ruby Ellen (Crawley) Duncan. He passed away on Wednesday morning, June 24, 2009 at the Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha at the age of 75 years, 4 months and 11 days.

Harold grew up in the Indianapolis area and graduated from Arsenal Technical High School in Indianapolis with the class of 1951. He then attended Butler University and received his degree in pharmacy. He was drafted into the United States Army and served from 1956 to 1958. On June 9, 1956 he was united in marriage to Donna Bess Lindamood in Shenandoah, Iowa. This union was blessed with two children, Linda and Mike.

Harold and Donna lived at Ft. Leonard Wood, Missouri while he served in the Army. Then they moved to Indianapolis until 1959. At that time they moved to Shenandoah where he has resided since. In 1965 Harold and Donna purchased Olsen’s Drug Store. They owned and operated the business until 1981. Harold was an active member of the Shenandoah Lions Club serving as president from 1974 to 1975. He was also a member of the American Legion along with various other civic clubs. Harold was very proud to have received his 50 year pharmacist pin this past year. He enjoyed fishing, golfing and gardening.

Harold was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Donna in 2005; a sister, Wilma Pellum; a brother, Charles Duncan and a sister-in-law, Vonna Gilbert.

Survivors include his children, Linda Oto and her husband Rodney of Northfield, Minnesota, Michael Duncan and his wife Lisa of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; four grandchildren, Ryan and Carly Oto of Northfield, Minnesota and Cody and Zachary (Zac) Duncan of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; a brother, Bernard Duncan of Indianapolis, Indiana; a brother-in-law, Murl (Gil) Gilbert of Shenandoah, Iowa; two nieces, Marsha Pellum of Indianapolis, Indiana and Donna Pellum of Gaithersburg, Maryland; three nephews, Larry Pellum of Indianapolis, Indiana; Doug Gilbert of Shenandoah, Iowa, Steve Gilbert and his wife Rhonda of Shenandoah, Iowa; along with many other relatives and friends.
