| | | Russell Oscar “Bud” Rorebeck was born July 9, 1920 near Essex, Iowa, the son of Ross and Bennie Belle (Clemens) Rorebeck. He passed away on Saturday evening, July 25, 2009 at Gardenview Care Center in Shenandoah at the age of 89 years and 16 days.
Oscar grew up and lived in the Bedford, Norwich, Clarinda and Shenandoah area his entire life. He attended school through the 10th grade when he started farming with his father. Oscar farmed most of his life. He also worked construction when the interstate system was being built. Oscar loved antiques, especially old cars and tractors. He also had a love for horses. After his retirement, Oscar was a familiar face at area farm sales and auctions.
Oscar was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Alta Rima, Gustia Arnold and Dorothy Stringfellow; and a granddaughter, Christie Lynne Fichter.
Survivors include his wife of 70 years, Dorothy Rorebeck of Shenandoah, Iowa; his children, Joanne Alba of Omaha, Nebraska, Sharon Fichter of Glenwood, Iowa, Carole Reising and her husband Dennis of Granite Falls, North Carolina, Karen Lane and her husband David of Shenandoah, Iowa; 12 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; along with many other relatives and friends.
