| | | Rodney A. Sandahl, age 59, of Shenandoah, Iowa passed away Saturday, August 8, 2009 at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha after a sudden illness. Rodney Arvid Sandahl was born June 2, 1950 in Shenandoah, Iowa the son of Arvid and Chrystal (Esaias) Sandahl. He was raised and lived all of his life in Shenandoah graduating from Shenandoah High School with the class of 1968. Rodney served in the Iowa Army National Guard for a short time. Over the years he owned Rod’s Skelly Station, worked for Johnson Tires, owned and operated Rod’s Farm Tire Service and most recently was doing odd jobs. Rod was very talented at his work and was a hard worker. Rod enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, golfing, and bowling in his spare time. He was a member of the Congregational Church for many years.
Preceding him in death were his brother: Francis Sandahl in 1972 and his father: Arvid Sandahl in 2000. Survivors include his children: Leslie Brooks and husband Curtis of Farragut, Iowa and Adam Sandahl and wife Heidi of Shenandoah, Iowa; his mother: Chrystal Sandahl of Shenandoah, Iowa; many aunts, uncles, cousins; and many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held 11 AM Wednesday, August 12, 2009 at the Congregational United Church of Christ with Rev. Alan Bash officiating. Burial will be in the Rose Hill Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be held from 6-8 PM Tuesday, August 11, 2009 at the Kirsch Funeral Chapel. Memorials are suggested to the family.
Services are entrusted to the Kirsch Funeral Chapel.
