Special Services:
Burial will be in the Rose Hill Cemetery. There will be a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday evening. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the family.

Katrina Louise Mattice was born December 7, 1966 in Shenandoah, Iowa, the daughter of William Walter and Shirley Eileen (Nelson) Farrell. She passed away early Monday morning, September 7, 2009 at her home in Shenandoah at the age of 42 years and 9 months.

Katrina grew up and attended school in Shenandoah. She graduated from Shenandoah High School with the class of 1985. Following high school Katrina moved to Omaha and attended a word processing and secretarial school. She returned to Shenandoah in 1995. On January 9, 1996, she was united in marriage to Charles Mattice in Shenandoah, Iowa.

She was known throughout the community for her work with numerous organizations. She was very active with the Boy Scouts of America, the Shenandoah Band Boosters, helping with the color guard where she received the nickname K5, mentoring youth, meals on wheels, in home day care and substitute teachers aide. She was an active member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, was on various bowling leagues and collected teddybear figurines. But her biggest joy was helping her family and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents and a brother, William Paul Farrell.

Survivors include her husband, Charles Mattice of Shenandoah, Iowa; two sons, Lance and Brock Mattice of Shenandoah, Iowa; parents, William and Shirley Farrell of Shenandoah, Iowa; a sister, Theresa Stevens and her husband Jerry of Council Bluffs, Iowa; five brothers, Joe Farrell and his wife Nancy of Hot Springs, Arkansas, Brian Farrell and his wife Kari of Jacksonville, Illinois, Greg Farrell of San Diego, California, Steve Farrell and his wife Carrie of Swansboro, North Carolina, Robert Farrell and his wife Amy of Shenandoah, Iowa; 11 nieces and nephews, Tara Stevens, Amy Stevens, Chris Stevens, Tim Farrell, Connor Farrell, Megan Farrell, Michael Farrell, Joshua Farrell, Jacob Farrell, Kylee Farrell, Courtney Farrell; along with many other relatives and friends.
