Burial will be in the St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery at Northboro, Iowa. Memorials are suggested to a fund for Mahlon's children.

Mahlon James Marshall was born May 10, 1964 in Iosco County, Michigan, the son of Silena (Burkhart) Marshall. He passed away on Tuesday morning, October 27, 2009 at the North Kansas City Hospital in Kansas City, Missouri at the age of 45 years, 5 months and 17 days.

He attended Belton Schools in Belton, Missouri and graduated in 1982. He joined the U.S. Navy soon after and was a member of the SeaBees as a heavy equipment operator until 1987. He worked for many years as an over-the-road truck driver, then as a semi trailer mechanic.

On September 27, 1998, Mahlon was united in marriage to Charlynn Sue Bredensteiner in Weston, Missouri. This union was blessed with two sons, Wyatt James in 2002 and Colten George in 2004.

Mahlon was a proud participant in the Watch D.O.G.S. program and an active member of the PTA at Ravenwood Elementary School in North Kansas City, Missouri. He enjoyed fishing and hunting, but most of all, he enjoyed life and liked to make everyone around him smile.

He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Wilhelmina Burkhart. Survivors include his wife, Charlynn Marshall; his two sons, Wyatt and Colten Marshall; his mother, Silena; a brother, Dale Marshall; parents-in-law, Steve and Penny Bredensteiner; sisters-in-law, Shana Bredensteiner and her friend Andrew Schlabach, Alise Snyder and her husband Shannon; along with many other relatives and friends.
