| | | Betty was born February 6, 1922 in Arcadia, Nebraska, the daughter of Guy and Ruth (Jenkins) Skinner. She passed away on Tuesday evening, October 27, 2009 at the Elm Heights Care Center in Shenandoah at the age of 87 years, 8 months and 21 days.
Betty grew up in the Arcadia, Nebraska area. In 1946, she was united in marriage to Owen Dyke in Missouri. This union was blessed with two sons, James and Gary. After their marriage, Owen and Betty lived in Mills County, Iowa, moved to the Tabor area then settled into Shenandoah/
Betty enjoyed craftwork and especially liked crosses. She had a strong faith and attended the Assembly of God Church in Shenandoah. She loved children and before Owens death, the couple enjoyed traveling and spending winters in the south.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two brothers, Tolly and Don Skinner; and a sister, Helen Reafling.
Survivors include her children, James Owen Dyke of Shenandoah, Iowa, Gary Owen Dyke of Omaha, Nebraska; three grandchildren, Jeff Dyke and his wife Margaret of Gretna, Nebraska; Sean Dyke and his wife Tracy of Omaha, Nebraska, Missy Fabian and her husband Paul of Bennington, Nebraska; eight great grandchildren, Lisa, Britney, Justin, Ali, Sydney, Ryan, Dylan, and Logan; two sisters, Dixie Deitcher of Glenwood, Iowa, Dodie Olsen and her husband Frank of Burlington, Iowa; a brother, Gerald Skinner and his wife Eileen of Nashville, Tennessee; along with many other relatives and friends.
