Burial is in the Rose Hill Cemetery at Shenandoah. A memorial fund is being established in his name.

Doyle Edwin Hardisty was born December 4, 1938 in Corning, Iowa, the son of Burton and Meda (Armstrong) Hardisty. He passed away suddenly on Thursday evening, October 29, 2009 at the Shenandoah Medical Center at the age of 70 years, 10 months and 25 days.

Doyle grew up and attended school in the Villisca area. On May 11, 1957, he was united in marriage to Caroleta Kay Howrey. This union was blessed with four children, Michael, Douglas, Brenda and Nicki.

Doyle worked as a plumber and electrician for many years. He worked in the maintenance department at the Shenandoah Hospital for several years. He also operated H&H Home Repair in Shenandoah. Doyle was a former member of the Audubon Volunteer Fire Department and was a member of the Eagle’s Lodge. He enjoyed fixing things and stock car racing.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife. Survivors include his children, Michael Hardisty and his wife Delores of Shenandoah, Iowa, Douglas Hardisty of Clarinda, Iowa, Brenda Hardisty of Amherst, Nebraska, Nicki Griffin and her husband Scott of Shenandoah, Iowa; twelve grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; a sister, Ruby Catherine Miller of Corning, Iowa; a niece, Norma Kingsley; a nephew, Garland Miller; special friend, Lois Kiper of Shenandoah, Iowa, along with many other relatives and friends.
