Dennis R. Whitson ll, 92, of Mulberry, Arkansas died Friday, July 5, 2013 in Fayetteville, Arkansas. He was a member of the Rehobeth Missionary Baptist Church and an ordained Minister of the Missionary Baptist Church for 58 years. He was a WWll veteran and a recipient of the Purple Heart and the Bronze Star. He was a member of General PattonÂ’s Third Army and was in the Civilian Conservation Corps. He was a faithful, loving husband and father, a skilled carpenter, and an excellent home gardener raising potatoes, corn, peas, beans and more. He was born on February 15, 1921 in Ozark, Arkansas to Dennis R. and Bertha Moon Whitson. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services will be held at the National Cemetery in Fort Smith, Arkansas at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, July 10, 2013 with Pastor Terry Pickrell officiating under the direction of Shaffer Funeral Home of Ozark.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Marjorie Holloway Whitson; two daughters Laura and Teresa Whitson of Mulberry; one granddaughter Kristin and husband Keith Hurt of Branch, Arkansas; two sisters Paulette and husband Clyde of Fort Smith, Arkansas and Anna and husband Jesse Lee Jackson of Mulberry; two brothers Glenn and wife Ellen Whitson of Mulberry and Bob Whitson of Ozark and many nieces and nephews.
