Lois J. Ray age 84, of Vanlue died on Sat. July 7, 2012 at 4:17 p.m. in St. Vincent Medical Center, Toledo. She was born May 13, 1928 in Forest to Albert and Beatrice (Carpenter) Benjamin. She married Clarence J. Ray on June 9, 1945 and he preceded her in death on Jan. 7, 2005.

Mrs. Ray has three daughters surviving Mary (Rich) Guenther, Tipp City, Peggy (Ron Baker) Herr, Elyria, Sue Beckwith, Defiance, 7 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, a brother William (Gisela) Benjamin, Kenton. She was preceded in death by her parents and sister Bonnie Coulmber.

Mrs. Ray attended Christ United Methodist Church in Vanlue. She was a homemaker and worked in several restaurants as a cook and waitress. For Hobbies she enjoyed Nascar Racing especially the “Earnhardt Team” and playing golf. She was a Cleveland browns and Cleveland Indians fan. Mrs. Ray will be remembered as a guiding mother who enjoyed sharing life stories and keeping the family together but maintaining her independence.

A funeral service will be held Wed. July 11, 2012 at 10:30 am in CLARK SHIELDS Funeral Home with Rev. Irma Metzger officiating. Burial will follow in Dunkirk Cemetery. Visitation will be on Tuesday July 10, 2012 from 4-8 p.m. in the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Christ United Methodist Church or the charity of the donor’s choice in care of CLARK SHIELDS Funeral Home 301 S. Patterson St. Forest, OH 45843.
