A funeral tries to give a language to unspeakable pain, unspeakable hope, unspeakable love, unspeakable heartbreak. All these things that are so hard to put into words we pull together into metaphor and symbol and ritual and call a funeral.
They engage all the senses to express the distinctive character of the person honored-how they lived, whom they loved, what they learned…and taught us, what kinds of things made them laugh, and what their lasting legacy ought to be.
When families call upon us to serve them at their time of need, we treat this as a very unique situation. Families have needs which are unique to them - each individual grieves differently. We provide the guidelines and encourage each family to “create” their loved one’s funeral. By supporting the grief of our client families, we provide them with an avenue to begin the manageable recovery. Families are encouraged to assemble “memory boards” or collections of the deceased’s hobbies or collectibles.
We can arrange, with them, a meaningful funeral. The choices are many and all options are discussed. The services are customized to suit their needs. These services can acknowledge the life that has been lived and encourage the survivors to face the pain of their loss and share their thoughts and feelings. Family participation is strongly encouraged, in all aspects of the service.
