Thomas D. Davis

Thomas D. Davis, a resident of April Sound in Montgomery, Texas for the past 20 years, died on June 21, 2008 at age 79. Mr. Davis was born in Grand Forks, North Dakota on April 17, 1929 to Raymond and Lillian Davis. As a youth, he lived in Montana, Minnesota, and North Dakota, and graduated from Fargo High School in 1947. He attended North Dakota State University, Fargo, N.D. for two years and graduated from the University of Minnesota Mortuary Science School in 1950. As a licensed mortician, he worked for 15 years in Fargo and Williston, N.D. Mr. Davis was a member of the North Dakota Army National Guard. He was commissioned as 2nd Lieutenant in 1957, and served as Company Commander of the Williston Company in 1962. In 1965 he was employed full time for the North Dakota Army National Guard. He served in the National Guard in Minot, Devils Lake and Bismarck, N. D. He will be remembered for the numerous awards he received for outstanding service to the communities he lived in and the State of North Dakota. Due to medical complications, he retired as a Lieutenant Colonel in 1982 and moved to Texas. During his retirement, he enjoyed golfing and the April Sound community on Lake Conroe.

He is survived by his wife, Claudia; sons, Thomas Jr., of Bismarck, North Dakota, John of Omaha, Nebraska, William of Tucson, Arizona, Richard of Seoul, South Korea and Daniel of El Toro, California; one daughter, Margaret of Minot, North Dakota; 11 grandchildren, eight great- grandchildren and two step-grandchildren.
