John LeFevre, 90, died July 10, 2008 after a short illness.

Born August 15, 1917 in Portmouth, England, John lived in India, East Africa and England before settling in Texas in 1982. As a young man, John joined the Indian Police, rising to the rank of Deputy Commissioner and was awarded the Indian Police Medal for meritorious service in 1948. John then served in the British Colonial Service in East Africa. He was one of only a few people to be asked by the Governments of India and Tanzania to assist after they gained independence from Britain. John later entered the private sector, becoming Managing Director of the United Transport companies worldwide. John had many interests which included his land and garden, and playing Bridge with his friends.

Surviving is his wife of more than 60 years, Jean and their sons; Philip and his wife, Holly of Montgomery, Calvin and his wife, Debbie of the Woodlands, Malcolm, and his wife Edeline in North Ireland; eleven grandchildren, Hilliary Dumas and her husband Jon, Amnesty, John and Julian of Montgomery; Victoria, Sarah and Phillip of The Woodlands; and Rosemary, Colum, Brigid and Grainne in North Ireland.

A memorial service celebrating John’s life will be held at 11 A.M., August 23, 2008 at The Church of Saint John in Montgomery. Arrangements entrusted to Sam Houston Memorial Funeral Home, Montgomery Texas. You are invited to leave memorial condolences to the family at www.shmfh.com.
