It is with deep sadness and loving remembrance that we announce the passing of Alice Marie Kelley (September 3, 1920 to August 20, 2009), known affectionately to her family as “Mom”, “Grandma” and “G.G.” Marie is survived by her children; Sara Coots, Johnnie Joe Kelley, and Marilyn Burkett, as well as, her five grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, and countless nieces, nephews and cousins. Marie was born in Mt. Gilead Ohio to Charles King and Merle Irene Shaffer and passed away in Montgomery, Texas, where she lived with her daughter, Sara Coots, for the past ten years. Marie lived a life of unwavering compassion, boundless generosity, and faithful service to God, family and friends. Although Marie has departed to join her loving husband, John Dale; Marie’s faith, wisdom, and humor will continue to fortify those she has left behind, all of whom will strive always to honor in thought, word, and deed her legacy of strength and love. Services will be held for Marie in Columbus, Ohio. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Montgomery County Chapter of the American Cancer Society in Marie’s name.
