Billy Gene Wren, Sr., who lived a long life as a dedicated husband and beloved father, passed away on November 28, 2009, at the age of 80. Bill entered eternity without pain but leaves behind his loving wife of 56 years, Patricia; their son Carl and wife Bridget, son Bill and wife Carolyn , daughter Nichole Dittmann and husband Todd, and daughter Karen Shumate and husband Larry. Bill is also survived by his grandchildren Christine, Carl Jr., Serena, Tony, Stacie, Jackie Li, Drew and Spencer; great grandchildren; and his brother Edmond.
Bill was born in Houston on October 24, 1929 to Sam and Katie Byrd Wren. He served our country for 20 years in the US Air Force, including a tour of duty in Vietnam. After his years of military service, Bill reaffirmed his commitment to our country by going to work for the US Postal Service, where he worked for 22 years until his retirement. Bill’s common sense, devotion and kindness will be missed by his family and all those who knew him.
Relatives and friends are invited to a Mass in celebration of Bill’s life, on Friday, December 4th, at 11am, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Plantersville, Texas, with interment to follow. A luncheon hosted by the St. Mary’s Altar Society will immediately follow. A Rosary will precede the Mass, beginning at 10:30am.
