Gertrude "Gert" Gossen, age 81, of Glendive, passed away on Wednesday, July 4, 2007 at the Glendive Medical Center in Glendive.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Saturday, July 7, 2007 at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Glendive with Pastor James Hageman officiating. Interment will be in the Dawson Memorial Cemetery in Glendive. Silvernale-Silha Funeral Home of Glendive is entrusted with arrangements.
Gert was born on January 20, 1926 in Glendive, Montana, the daughter of John Henry and Clara Louise (Pelstring) Kirsch. Gert was raised in the Bloomfield area and received her early education at the Steffen School in rural Dawson County. She attended high school in Cheboygan, Michigan for one year and then returned to Montana where she graduated from Dawson County High School in Glendive with the class of 1944. Following her high school education, Gert attended Montana Normal School in Dillon. Gert was united in marriage to Henry Gossen on October 1, 1946 in Sidney, Montana. They farmed near Bloomfield until 1984 when they sold the farm and moved to a home near Glendive. Henry preceded her in death on June 3, 1991.
Gert was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church Faith Society and the Glendive Medical Center Auxiliary. She was a life master duplicate bridge player and enjoyed other card games, puzzles and gardening. She especially enjoyed visiting with her neighbors.
Gert was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Kim and two brothers.
Survivors include her daughters, Mary Bronson and her husband Terry of Glendive and Karla Duffy and her husband Duane of Miles City, Montana; grandchildren, January Brown, Heather Gossen and Jodi Halvorson; three great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
