| | | Doris Eleanor Amunrud, age 81, passed away Monday, November 24, 2008, in Glendive, Montana. She was born August 9, 1927, in Outlook, Montana, a daughter of Henry and Dagny (Hanson) Mattson. She graduated from Outlook High School and attended college in Billings. During this time, Doris learned that there was nothing she could do to earn God's forgiveness for her sins. She trusted Jesus to forgive her through His death and desired to live her life to please Him.
On June 20, 1950, Doris was joined in marriage to Leroy Amunrud. Together they raised five children. Doris delighted in being a wife, mother, and grandmother. She instilled in her children a love for music and enjoyed listening to them play and sing. She was a great friend to her family and was always available for late night chats. Through her love, prayers, and God's grace, all of her children have followed her example in loving and serving Christ and are raising her twenty grandchildren to do the same. Her life work and the legacy she leaves is her family.
Doris's love for Christ resulted in the many acts of kindness for which she is known and loved. She invested in her friends and family. She eagerly helped and served others, and smiled easily. Through many difficult circumstances in her life, she learned to choose contentment.
Doris enjoyed teaching, quilting, crocheting, and creating a warm home. She made prize-winning angel food cakes, scrumptious lemon meringue pies, and her grandchildren's favorite molasses cookies.
Doris is survived by her husband of 58 years, Leroy, of Wibaux; her children, Mark (Debie) Amunrud, Marcia (Scott) Reavely, Erica (Chuck) Searl, Lisa (Vern) Stickel, and Brent (Brenda) Amunrud; 20 grandchildren, Alana, Joel (Rachel), and Larissa Amunrud, Taylor, Leslie, Lauren, Lisa, and Layne Reavely, Vicki, Chas, Amy, Jessica, and Jonathan Searl, Kara, Calvin, and Kaitlyn Stickel, Matthew, Josiah, Seth, and Elliana Amunrud; and a brother and sister, Walter Mattson and Lois Dalthorp. She was preceded in death by a sister, Helen, a brother, Robert Mattson, and two grandchildren, Lindsey and Thomas Reavely.
Visitation will be held from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M., Friday, November 28, 2008, at the Chapel of the Silvernale-Silha Funeral Home in Wibaux. Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 P.M., Saturday, November 29, 2008, at the Wibaux Bible Church with Reverend Scott Reavely officiating. Silvernale-Silha Funeral Home of Wibaux is entrusted with arrangements.
