| | | Helen Josephine Cox, age 86, of Glendive, Montana, formerly of Beach, North Dakota, died at the Glendive Medical Center Extended Care Facility on Wednesday, January 14, 2004.
A Vigil Service will be held at 7:00 P.M. Monday, January 19, 2004 in the Chapel of the Silvernale-Silha Funeral Home in Beach. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 A.M., Tuesday, January 20, 2004 at St. John's the Baptist Catholic Church in Beach with Rev. Fr. David Richter officiating. Rite of Christian Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery in Beach. Silvernale-Silha Funeral Home of Beach is entrusted with arrangements.
Helen was born and raised near St. Phillip's, Montana, the daughter of Alfred J. and Victoria Mouenki (Mogolnesika) Nunberg. She was educated in the Wibaux, Montana public schools, graduating with the class of 1936.
Helen worked at Boeing Aircraft in Seattle during the war years. She was married to Charles Cox on August 9, 1953 in Beach, North Dakota. After their marriage they lived in California and Helena, Montana for a time. They returned to Beach where she has resided until moving to the Glendive Medical Center Extended Care Facility last year.
Helen was a member of St. John's the Baptist Catholic Church and St. Ann's Guild. She was known as the caretaker for the children in the neighborhood. Helen worked at the Beach Hospital for approximately 20 years and at the Golden Valley Manor in Beach for two years. She also cleaned houses for many years. Helen enjoyed yard work and raised beautiful flower and vegetable gardens. One of Helen's greatest joys was cooking for her family and friends.
Helen was preceded in death by her husband Charles, parents, two brothers, Tony and Casey Nunberg; three sisters, Rose Efta, Hattie Watson and Cecelia Nunberg.
Helen is survived by four daughters, Paula Wicka and her husband John of Wibaux, Montana, Rosalyn Elder and her husband Eric of Pendleton, Oregon, Marilyn Cox of Troy, Michigan and Charlene Bostyan and her husband Rick of Golva, North Dakota; one son, Dan Cox and his wife Monica of Mandan, North Dakota; four brothers, Ted Nunberg and his wife Jowane of Beach, North Dakota, Fred Nunberg and his wife Shirley of Wibaux, Montana, Francis Nunberg and his wife Josephine of Naples, Florida and Al Nunberg and his wife Mary Jean of Glendive, Montana; sisters-in-law Charlotte Cox of Beach North Dakota and Joyce Vernon of Montrose, Colorado and eight grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Glendive Medical Center Hospice, 202 Prospect Drive, Glendive, MT 59330.
