| | | Dorothy M. Adams, age 90, of Beach, North Dakota, died on Saturday, April 2, 2005 in the Glendive Medical Center Extended Care Facility in Glendive, Montana.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, April 6, 2005 from 10:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M. and 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. in the Chapel of the Silvernale-Silha Funeral Home in Glendive. Visitation will be on Thursday, April 7, 2005 from 10:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M. and 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. in the Chapel of the Silvernale-Silha Funeral Home in Beach, North Dakota. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Friday, April 8, 2005 in the United Community Church in Beach with Pastor Warren Maxted officiating. Interment will be in the Beach City Cemetery. Silvernale-Silha Funeral Home of Glendive is entrusted with arrangements.
Dorothy was born on November 23, 1914 in Odessa, Minnesota, the daughter of Benjamin Henry and Emily (Hoernemann) Cheadle. She moved with her family to Unity, Minnesota in 1924. After the community of Unity died, it became known as Elrosa. She received her schooling in Odessa, Minnesota which was located three miles from Elrosa. She attended high school in Fryburg, North Dakota. She met Glenn Adams while staying at her grandparents home in Fryburg and they were united in marriage on March 9, 1934. Following their marriage, they lived in the Unity community, south of Sauk Centre, Minnesota until they moved to the Beach, North Dakota area where they farmed. In 1948, Dorothy and her husband moved into Beach where they have resided since. As a young mother, Dorothy worked in the kitchen of the early Beach Hospital. She had served as custodian for the United Community Church in Beach for many years. She was well known throughout the Beach community for assisting and serving as a companion for the elderly. Dorothy remained in Beach until January of 2003 when she moved to the Glendive Medical Center Extended Care Facility.
Her hobbies included handicrafts, flower gardening, quilting and baking.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Glenn in October of 1973; two sisters, Elnora and Luella; four brothers, Myles, Aaron, Donald and Calvin.
Survivors include three sons, Wade Adams and his wife Nona of Lake Mary, Florida, Bernard Adams and his wife Connie of Fergus Falls, Minnesota, and Donald F. Adams and his wife Carole of Glendive; two brothers, Ray Cheadle and his wife Lavina of Villard, Minnesota, Art Cheadle of Hot Springs, South Dakota; her sister, Daisy Meier of Sauk Centre, Minnesota; seven grandchildren, two great granddaughters and one great great granddaughter.
