Donald “Donnie” Anderson passed away Thursday, December 1, 2005, at the Wibaux County Nursing Home, in Wibaux, Montana, at the age of 80 years. Donnie had endured years of battling Alheizmers and Parkinsons disease.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Tuesday, December 6, 2005 at the Christian Fundamental Church in Wibaux. Interment will follow at the Wibaux Cemetery with Pastor Jeremy Stradley officiating. Silvernale-Silha Funeral Home of Wibaux is entrusted with arrangements.
Donnie was born on the family farm at Wibaux on June 16, 1925 to Robert and Helen (Wergers) Anderson. Donnie's childhood chores included milking cows and delivering milk and cream to the people of Wibaux each day before going to school. Donnie graduated from Wibaux County High School with the class of 1943. He operated a dairy operation until the early 1960's and continued farming until 1999 when health issues caused him to retire. The bookkeeper at a local farm implement store caught his eye and on July 20, 1947, he married Grace Hammond. During their first year of marriage they operated the Anderson family farm and managed the Super Valu store in Beach, North Dakota. In 1964, a daughter, Kristen Dawn was adopted. She was joined by a brother, Kevin Roswell in 1965. While Kristen and Kevin were growing up, Don loved taking them on trips to the cabin in the mountains. His farming schedule allowed him to be an ever present father in his children’s lives. He was an active member of the Christian Fundamental Church, serving many different positions over the years. He was very dedicated to church matters and never missed a church work day.
Donnie enjoyed a variety of hobbies and activities. Much of his time on the farm was spent building or repairing farm equipment. He enjoyed collecting antiques. One of his favorite pastimes was restoring cars and antique furniture. Donnie was blessed with the gift of singing. His talent was shared at church as well as many weddings and funerals. Donnie was noted for a giving heart and his loyal friendship. Through the years of marriage, Donnie was a testimony of a loving husband. He lovingly cared for Grace in her last years on earth. She passed away in January of 1995.
Donnie was a very loving father. He started a new part of his life when he became a grandparent. Once again his dedication and loving spirit shone through. Just the mention of the grandchildren would bring a big smile to Donnie’s face.
Donnie is survived by one daughter, Kristen and her husband Ron Jaeger, of Cambridge, Idaho and grandsons, Cameron, Kaleb, Scott and Josiah; one son, Kevin and his wife Traci Anderson, of Wibaux, Montana and granddaughters, Rachel, Rebecca, Kaci and Kati; one sister, Elaine Hubble of Milwaukee, Oregon; he is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
