| | | Moyses "Moe" Arellano, age 79, of Glendive, Montana, passed away on Friday, October 27, 2006 at his home in Glendive.
A Vigil service will be held at 7:00 P.M., Monday, October 30, 2006 in the Chapel of the Silvernale-Silha Funeral Home in Glendive. Mass of Christian Burial with military honors will be held at 10:30 A.M., Tuesday, October 31, 2006 in the Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Joseph Ponessa officiating. Silvernale-Silha Funeral Home of Glendive is entrusted with arrangements.
Moe was born on June 10, 1927 in Costilla, New Mexico, the son of Moyses and Amanda (Archuletta) Arellano. He moved with his mother to the Buffalo, Wyoming area to a family homestead. He received his education in the Buffalo area schools. At 16 years of age, Moe entered the United States Navy and served as a pilot, flying off of the USS Lexington during World War II. Following his honorable discharge in March 1946, Moe returned to Buffalo where he rodeoed for a time. In 1949, he moved to Glendive where he worked as a meat cutter for Safeway. He was united in marriage to Kay Brown in October of 1951 in Glendive. Moe and his wife moved to Forsyth, Montana and later to Livingston, Montana where he was employed with Safeway. Moe and his wife returned to Glendive and he began working for the Northern Pacific Railroad and later Burlington Northern Railroad until he retired as brakeman in1988. Following his retirement, Moe did woodworking and operated a golf cart repair service. He enjoyed golfing, being a helpful neighbor and visiting with friends.
Moe was a member of the Elks Lodge #1324.
Survivors include his wife, Kay, of Glendive; his children, Mike Arellano and his wife Bev of Sundown, Texas, Karen McCormick and her husband Mike of Big Spring, Texas and Tom Arellano and his wife Rita of Craig, Colorado; three sisters, Lucy Oellrich and her husband Hugh of Rapid City, South Dakota, Dorothy Wagner and her husband Ed of Glenrock, Wyoming and Jenny Ortega and her husband Lee of Douglas, Wyoming; 12 grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
