| | | GLENDIVE, MONTANA: Marlene Jean Wetzel, age 69, passed away on Tuesday, November 3, 2009 at her home in Glendive. Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. CST on Monday, November 9, 2009 at the Evangelical Congregatinal Church in Glen Ullin, North Dakota. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. CST on Monday, November 9, 2009 at the Evangelical Congregational Church in Glen Ullin with Pastor Willis Bradley officiating. Interment will follow in the Glen Ullin Cemetery. Silvernale-Silha Funeral Home of Glendive has been entrusted with the arrangements.
Marlene was born on August 15, 1940 in Bismarck, North Dakota the daughter of Walter and Emma (Weible) Bertsch. She was raised and educated in Bismarck. Marlene married Joseph Wetzel on August 23, 1958 in Bismarck. The couple moved to Dickinson and then to Glendive in 1976, where she had resided since. Marlene and Joseph worked road construction together as a flagger. Marlene also worked as a scale operator, a bar tender, waitress and most recently as a housekeeper at the Eastern Montana Veterans Home before retiring.
Marlene loved her family and her dogs. She enjoyed fishing and watching QVC on TV She was very energetic and always on the go, especially if someone needed her help, she would be there for them. She enjoyed cooking and excelled at it.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband and one grandson, Robert "Bobby" Neil Frey.
Survivors include, three daughters, Charleen (Allen) Frey, of Glendive, Joelene (David) Master, of Billings, Montana, Lila (Carey) Sprankle of Sidney, Montana; and one son, Barry Wetzel of Glendive; Seven grandchildren and five great grandchildren; brothers, Alvin (Marlys) Bertsch, Vernon (Anita) Bertsch, Leland (Jane) Bertsch, and Dean Bertsch all of Bismarck; one sister, Elain (Jon) Wagner of Lincoln, North Dakota, and numerous nieces and nephews.
