| | | REGINA, SASK: Dorothy Rosalia Becker, age 92, was born on June 30, 1917 in the shadows of the Shrine of our Lady of Mount Carmel and passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 31, 2009 in Regina, SK. A FUNERAL MASS was held at the Chapel of Santa Maria Senior Citizens Home, 4215 Regina Avenue, Regina, SK on Saturday, November 7, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. on Monday, November 9, 2009 at the Silvernale-Silha Funeral Home in Glendive. Dorothy will be laid to rest next to her husband Richard in the Dawson County Cemetery, in Glendive on Monday, November 9, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. with Father Joseph Ponessa officiating. Silvernale-Silha Funeral Home of Glendive has been entrusted with the local arrangements.
She was the fourth of eleven children born to John and Caroline (Miller) Kuechle. She was predeceased by her first husband John Wegmann (the father of her nine children) in 1957; and by her second husband Richard Becker in 1995; siblings Geraldine (Arnold) Becker, Henry (Lena) Kuechle, Agnes Wolfe, Ronald Kuechle; in-laws Joe and George Wegmann, Marie Plemel, Ray (Edwina) Becker, George Wilson and Carl Kiefer; grandchildren Tammy Wegmann and Jason Wegmann; son-in-law Sebastian McCormick and grandson-in-law Terry King.
Dorothy is survived by her children Lucille (David) Farrell, Irvin (Darlene) Wegmann, Rita (Daryl) Skogstad, Herman (Irene) Wegmann, Margaret (Ron) Laturnus, Alvin (Carol) Wegmann, Leander (Marilyn) Wegmann, Richard (Kathy) Wegmann and Eileen (Dan) Bersch; 25 grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; siblings Fred (Beatrice) Kuechle, Bernice Wilson, Dolores Kiefer, Victor Kuechle, Inez (Lambert) Muellners, Alvin (Ludema) Kuechle; sister-in-law Dolores Kuechle; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Dorothy was widowed at age 41 with nine children aged 16 and under. She was a strong and determined lady, who after seven years alone was fortunate enough to find love a second time. She married Richard Becker who lived in Glendive, Montana and she bravely moved to his farm in the United States with her five youngest children in 1964. Dorothy has lived the last six years in Regina. Her family thanks the staff at Santa Maria for the wonderful care she received. She was a talented lady, creating many crafts for her family and friends. Her love of music and dancing, especially the polka, was known to all. Dorothy’s family and church were the most important things in her life.
