Carol Jean Lassell, age 83, of Wibaux, Montana, formerly of Beach, North Dakota, passed away on Thursday, November 5, 2009, at the Wibaux County Nursing Home in Wibaux.

A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 P.M., Monday, November 9, 2009, at the United Community Church in Beach, North Dakota, with Reverend Warren Maxted officiating. Cremation has taken place and burial will be at a later date. Silvernale-Silha Funeral Home of Beach is entrusted with arrangements.

Carol was born April 30, 1926, in Holland, Michigan to Franklin and Alice (Welch) Barendse. In 1945 Carol moved to Beach to help her grandmother, Bess Welch, with her photography studio. On August 24, 1945, she married Harold Lassell in Beach, and they had three daughters, Barbara, DeEtta, and Beryl.

Carol was employed at Farmers and Merchants Bank, starting as summer help and working her way up to cashier. She retired in 1987. Carol enjoyed sewing, painting, and reading. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary for 57 years. She was a member of the Kopper Kettle Homemaker's Club for over 50 years. She and Harold enjoyed traveling in their motor home. Carol was an active member in her church. She enjoyed singing in the choir and attending Bible studies.

Carol was preceded in death by her grandparents, parents, her brother Frank, her sister Barbara, and her father-in-law and mother-in-law Troy and Mabel Lassell.

Carol is survived by her husband, Harold of Beach, North Dakota; her children, Barbara Carlson of Beach, North Dakota, DeEtta Frandsen (Timothy) of Mesa, Arizona, and Beryl Thorson (Gary) of Watford City, North Dakota; her seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren: Reid Carlson and his children, Nicole and Mathew of Bowman, North Dakota; Troy Carlson and his daughter, Cianna of Bowman, North Dakota; Jhannea (Chad) Ringenberg and their children, Brylan and Lanae of Grand Forks, North Dakota; Paeter (Holly) Frandsen and their son, Asher of Mesa, Arizona; Karyne (Jon) Norton and their son, Silas of Queen Creek, Arizona; Kyle Thorson of Watford City, North Dakota; Kelly Thorson of Billings, Montana; her brothers, Kenneth Jack (Shirley) Barendse and Bruce (Sue) Barendse both of Muskegon, Michigan; her brother-in-law, Jack Rosencrans of Muskegon, Michigan; and sister-in-law, Joyce Acosta of Aurora, Colorado.
