Gillette, Wyoming: Lawrence Joseph Bruski, age 64, of Gillette, Wyoming, formerly of Wibaux, Montana passed away on Friday, April 27, 2012 at Campbell County Memorial Hospital in Gillette. A memorial service was held at 2:00 P.M. on Friday, May 4, 2012 at the Walker Funeral Home in Gillette. A Memorial Mass will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Saturday, June 23, 2012 at the St. Phillips’ Catholic Church in Wibaux with Reverend Father Joseph Ponessa officiating. Interment will follow in St. Phillips’ Catholic Cemetery in St. Phillips. Silvernale-Silha Funeral Home of Wibaux has been entrusted with the arrangements.
Lawrence was born on October 28, 1947 in Beach, North Dakota, a son of Casimer and Helen (Marciniak) Bruski. He was raised on the family farm near Wibaux, and graduated from Wibaux County High School with the class of 1966. After graduation Lawrence moved to Denver, Colorado where he attended a trade school learning auto body and mechanics.
On May 7, 1970 he married Karlice Feldmann in Belle Fourche, South Dakota and to this union was one daughter, DeAnna “DeeDee”, was born. In 1984, however, this marriage was ended. On August 14, 1993 he married Patricia “ Pat” Carlson in Gillette and was happily married for nineteen years.
Lawrence worked in the automotive trade until 1977 when he began carpentry with Feldmann Construction and also farming on the Bruski farm. In 1978 Lawrence moved his family to Gillette, where he began working at Dutton Aviation until he was finished with his testing to get a railroad certification. In 1979 Lawrence began his thirty year career with Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad, retiring as a conductor in 2009.
He was a member of the St. Matthews Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus as well as United Transportation Union Local #495. Lawrence enjoyed doing many things, some of these were playing pool and cards, target practicing, and boating and fishing.
Lawrence is preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Leonard and Marvin Bruski; and one stepson, David “Davy” Foy.
He is survived by his wife Pat Bruski, and her daughter, Lynda (Andre) Foy-Rivard, both of Gillette; daughter, DeAnna (Trevor) Kay of Gillette; three sisters, Pauline (Alfred) White of Plentywood, Montana, Marguerite (Bob) Sommerfeld of Billings, Montana, Janice (Bud) Smith also of Billings; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family that he loved and treasured.
