Coeur d'Alene, Idaho: Margaret Knapkewicz, age 90, of Coeur d'Alene and formerly of Wibaux, Montana passed away on Friday, June 22, 2012 in Coeur d'Alene. A Memorial Mass will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, June 30, 2012 at St. Peters Catholic Church in Wibaux with Father Julian Nix officiating. Rite of Committal will be in the Wibaux Cemetery. Silvernale-Silha Funeral Home of Wibaux has been entrusted with the arrangements.
Margaret was born on January 11, 1922 the daughter of John and Ida Mae Brophy in Wibaux. She was raised and educated in the Wibaux area. Margaret was united in marriage on May 21, 1947 to Vincent Knapkewicz in Wibaux and to this union three children were born. Margaret worked very hard taking care of her family and helping Vincent on their dairy farm. After Vincent passed away Margaret moved to Laurel, Montana in the mid 1980's to be near her daughter. She later moved to Idaho with her daughter where she resided until the time of her death.
Margaret enjoyed riding horses and gardening. She loved cats and was an avid reader. Most of all she loved her family and cherished time spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Vincent; one son, Gerald; one grandson, Quentin Banister; three sisters, Mabel, Alice and Ida; one brother, John and one son-in-law, Byron Banister.
Survivors include her daughter, Theresa Banister of Post Falls, Idaho; one son, Bill (Leona) Knapkewicz of Williston, North Dakota; one daughter-in-law, Kitty Knapkewicz of Beach, North Dakota; one sister, Katherine Brophy of Wibaux; ten grandchildren, Amy "Elizabeth" Knapkewicz of East Grand Forks, North Dakota, Diana (Shawn) Nowacki of Fargo, North Dakota, Andrew (Jennifer) Knapkewicz of New York, Victoria (Nathan) Bagley of Dickinson, North Dakota, Myra (Rod) Starr of Athol, Idaho, Lori (Jeff) Meyer of Rathdrum, Idaho, Scott Banister of Post Falls, Carri Banister of Hayden, Idaho, Jeremy (Cami) Knapkewicz and Josh Knapkewicz all of Williston; thirteen great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
