Bismarck, North Dakota: Ethel Irene Dietz, age 89, of Bismarck formerly of Sentinel Butte, North Dakota, passed away on Friday, July 6, 2012 at the Saint Alexis Medical Center in Bismarck. Visitation will be held from 9:00 A.M. until 3:00 P.M. on Monday, July 9, 2012 at the Silvernale-Silha Funeral Home in Beach, North Dakota and from 6:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Beach. A Vigil Service will held at 7:00 P.M. on Monday, July 9, 2012 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Beach. A second visitation will be held one hour prior to the Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 A.M. on Tuesday, July 10, 2012 in the Adoration Chapel of St. John The Baptist Catholic Church in Beach with Reverend Father Dennis Schafer as celebrant and Reverend Father Dan Berg as concelebrant. Rite of Committal will be in St. Michael's Cemetery in Sentinel Butte. Silvernale-Silha Funeral Home of Beach has been entrusted with the arrangements.
Ethel was born on June 15, 1923 in Dickinson, North Dakota, a daughter of George and Vera (Allstott) Wassmann. Ethel began her education in the Golva, North Dakota public schools and moved to Sentinel Butte to attend high school where she graduated with the class of 1941. Ethel and Edmund B. Dietz were married on June 13, 1942 at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Sentinel Butte. After their marriage they continued living in Sentinel Butte for most of their lives.
Ethel loved her home and her children. She enjoyed being a farmer's wife and did all she could to help when needed on the farm. Ethel was very good at keeping things going smoothly at home and enjoyed gardening.
Ethel was preceded in death by her parents; two daughters, Linda Dietz and Marjorie Schmidt; one grandson, Gage Schipman; one granddaughter, Robyn Dietz; one great-granddaughter, Trinity Sweet; three sisters and two brothers.
Ethel is survived by her husband, Ed of Sentinel Butte; four sons, Ronald Dietz (Teresa) of Maysville, Kentucky, Anthony Dietz (Esther) of Gurnee, Illinois, Michael Dietz (Konnie) of Meade, Washington and Dennis Dietz (Jacque) of Sentinel Butte; three daughters, Judith Bakk
(Art) of Mandan, North Dakota, Shirley Weightman (Bruce) of Hazen, North Dakota and Melissa Schipman (Lown) of Westby, Montana; twenty-eight grandchildren, thirty-four great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to the Golden Valley Manor in Beach.
