| | | Larry Lee Raichart, 69, of rural Roanoke, died at 3:00 a.m. Thursday, July 5, 2012 at his home. He had been in failing health.
He was born April 1, 1943 in Fort Wayne a son of Clarence and Altha (Simons) Raichart. His formative years were spent in Whitley County. He graduated from Columbia City Joint High School in 1961.
He began working for Conner’s Chevrolet in Roanoke and then Dana Spicer Axle in Fort Wayne where he retired after 30 years of service.
On August 14, 1965, he married Gloria J. Utterback. They have always made their home in Whitley County. She died June 12, 1978.
He served in Air National Guard, was a member of American Legion Post 160, Roanoke and the Pleasant Chapel United Methodist Church.
Surviving relatives include a son, Kevin Raichart; a daughter, Candy Raichart; a sister, Linda Hollenbaugh, all of Roanoke and a special friend Rebecca Dahms of Columbia City
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Cathy Sue Raichart.
The funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Smith & Sons Funeral Home, Columbia City. The burial will be in Pleasant Chapel Cemetery, Huntington County. Visitation will be Sunday from 2 to 6 p.m. at the funeral home.
Preferred memorials are to Pleasant Chapel United Methodist Church.
