Philip Jeffery Ford, 76, of 204 South Greene Street in Boone passed away at his home on Friday morning, September 6, 2013.

He was born on May 31, 1937 in Ames, Iowa the son of Jeff and Mary (Speck) Ford.

On June 21, 1958, he married Betty Andersen at the Stratford Lutheran Church in Stratford, Iowa.

Phil graduated from the Stratford High School. He was employed as a mechanic at Iowa State University from 1972 until 1998 and currently in the maintenance department at the DMACC-Boone Campus. Phil enjoyed camping and anything related to the DMACC Bears.

He was a member of the Augustana Lutheran Church in Boone and had served in the Iowa National Guard.

His parents preceded him in death.

Survivors include his wife Betty of Boone; a son Jeff Ford and wife Lori of Norwalk, Iowa; a daughter Jeanette Swope and husband Jayson of Omaha, Nebraska; 3 grandchildren Lisa Braden and husband Jeremy of Urbandale, Iowa, Aaron Swope of Omaha, Nebraska and Jordan Ford of Norwalk, Iowa; 2 brothers Stan Ford and wife Margaret of Denison, Iowa and John Ford and wife Diane of St. Joseph, Missouri; a sister Julia Johnson and husband Phil of Jewell, Iowa; and a nephew John Andersen of Stratford, Iowa that was like a son and brother to the family.

Services will be held on Tuesday morning, September 10th at 10:00 a.m. at the Augustana Lutheran Church in Boone, Iowa with Pastor Dan Solomon officiating.

Interment will be in the Oakwood Cemetery north of Stratford, Iowa.

Friends may call at the Stark-Welin Chapel in Boone on Monday evening from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with the family present during that time to greet friends. Visitation will continue on Tuesday morning at the Church from 8:30 a.m. until the time of service.

In memory of Phil, memorials may be directed to the family for a memorial to be determined later.
