Shirley Summers, 69, of 702 ½ Story Street in Boone, passed away at her home on Monday, April 6, 2009.
She was born on June 1, 1939 in Boone, Iowa the daughter of Glen and Florence (Allison) McNaughton.
Shirley attended Boone High School. She enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, watching TV games shows, was an avid follower of sports and cherished her grandchildren.
She was a member of the VFW auxiliary.
Her parents; husband, Ernie; and 2 sisters, Donna Miller and Diana Clarke, preceded her in death.
Survivors include 2 daughters, Rebecca (Vicky Jo) Sandvick and husband Jon of Minneapolis, Minnesota and Tammy Dangelser and husband Adrian of Ogden, Iowa; 2 sons, Jewell McLeod of Missoula, Montana and Luther McLeod of Ft. Dodge, Iowa; 2 sisters Deloris Grosnickle and husband Gary of Bella Vista, Arkansas and Glenda Okland and husband John of Kelly, Iowa; 2 brothers Glen (Buddy) McNaughton and wife Jody of Boone, Iowa and Larry Hudson and wife Sue of Fraser, Iowa, step-mother Beverly McNaughton of Boone, Iowa; an aunt Lillian Allison of Boone, Iowa; 11 grandchildren Brittany Buckwald and husband David of Ames, Iowa, Clint Dangelser and friend Chelsea Ellingson of Mason City, Iowa, Ty Wamsley and wife Abby of Minneapolis, Minnesota, Ashley, Amanda, Amber, Kolby, Ryan, Kris, Brandon and Jennifer; 7 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
Her body has been cremated.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday afternoon, April 11th at 1:00 p.m. at the Bethel Church southeast of Ogden with Rev. Ray Hoke officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be directed to the family.
