Lyle Babbitt, 51, of 798 R Avenue in Boone passed away at the Boone County Hospital in Boone on Saturday afternoon, October 3, 2009.

He was born on February 24, 1958 in Boone the son of LuVern and Beatrice (Nelson) Babbitt.

On September 22, 1984, he married Brenda Cottrell at the Evangelical Free Church in Boone.

Lyle graduated from Boone High School in the Class of 1976. He farmed on the family farm and had worked in the Purchasing Department at the Boone County Hospital for the past 31 years. He enjoyed going to antique tractor shows and subscribed to the Red Power tractor magazine and the Hart-Parr Oliver Collectors Association magazine.

He was a member of the Evangelical Free Church, Boone Municipal Band and the Boone County Farm Bureau.

His grandparents, Charles and Ethel Babbitt and Lloyd and Ethel Nelson, and father-in-law Herb Cottrell preceded him in death.

Survivors include his wife Brenda of Boone; 2 sons Charles “Charlie” and Edward “Eddie” Babbitt both of Boone; parents LuVern and Bea Babbitt of Boone; mother-in-law Elaine Cottrell of Boone; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Brian and Cathy Cottrell and Kevin and Kathie Cottrell, all of Boone.

Services will be held on Saturday morning, October 10th at 10:00 a.m. at the Evangelical Free Church in Boone with Pastor Daniel Grell officiating.

Interment will be in the Linwood Park Cemetery in Boone.

Friends may call at the Evangelical Free Church in Boone on Friday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. with the family present from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. to greet friends. Visitations will continue on Saturday morning at the Church from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service.

Those wishing to express their sympathies through a memorial may direct their gift to the Evangelical Free Church, Boone Municipal Band or the American Cancer Society.
