ZAIDAIN, Philip, age 86, passed away Friday, March 20 in Dayton, OH. Born in 1922 in Convent, LA, he moved to Dayton at age 9. A graduate of Roosevelt High School, he attended Sinclair Community College. He served proudly as a Medical Corpsman in the Navy at Pearl Harbor during World War II. Following his military service he worked as a Management Analyst for DESC, during which time he specialized in and advanced the cause of Equal Employment Opportunity. He was a founding member of the Dayton Chapter of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and was instrumental in establishing the Cystic Fibrosis Clinic at Dayton Children’s Medical Center. He was preceded in death by his son, Philip S.; daughter, Stephanie L.; his parents, Saleem and Zelfa (Sawaya) Zaidain; and 4 brothers, and a sister. He is survived by his devoted wife of 61 years, Elizabeth Walters Zaidain; his daughters, Rebecca Zaidain Parlette and Lisa Zaidain; grandsons, Philip Kaiser-Parlette and wife Traci (Smith) and Philip Saslaw; granddaughters, Deborah and husband Greg Andrew, Laura Parlette, and Ellen Saslaw; great grandsons, Philip and Stephen Kaiser-Parlette; great granddaughter, Alexis Parlette; sister, Annabelle Carroll; and many cherished nieces, nephews, in-laws, and friends. He was a loving husband, father, and friend who left the world a better place. “What we do for ourselves dies with us, what we do for others may become immortal”. Graveside services will be Saturday, March 28, 2009 at 12 pm at Glen Haven Memorial Gardens, 8200 West National Road, New Carlisle. His family will receive friends at the TOBIAS FUNERAL HOME-BEAVERCREEK CHAPEL, 3970 Dayton-Xenia Rd. on Saturday, March 28, 2009 from 2-3 pm followed by a memorial service at 3 pm at Tobias funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation 3481 Office Park Drive, Suite 120, Dayton, OH, 45439.
