John F. Borer, age 80 of North SR 101, died at 9:58 PM, Tuesday, November 3, 2009 at Mercy Tiffin Hospital Emergency Room.

John was born to the late Frederick and Dorothy (Fox) Borer on August 6, 1929 in Tiffin. On September 22, 1951 he married Eileen Mitchell in St. Mary Catholic Church, Tiffin and she survives.

He is survived by four sons, Steven Borer of Manhattan, MT, Daniel Borer of Anchorage, AK, Timothy (Nanette) Borer of Bowling Green and Thomas (Kim) Borer of Bradner; one daughter, Angela (Clem) Yaskowitz of Peoria, AZ; six grandchildren, Andrew, Chantel, Logan and Madisen Borer and Emily and Peter Yaskowitz; one brother, Michael(Gerry) Borer of Tiffin; and one sister, Mary Ann (Paul) Gaietto of Tiffin.

John was a 1947 graduate of Calvert High School and he was a member of the United States Air Force from 1948 to 1952. He retired in 1977, as a mechanic from the Tiffin Fire Department. He then worked in maintenance at the Betty Jane Center from 1978-1991. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, the 3rd and 4th Degree Knights of Columbus, the Eagles, Amvets, St. Mary and Calvert Boosters and was a volunteer at Mercy Tiffin Hospital and St. Mary Catholic Church. John enjoyed fishing and traveling, and was a fan of Cleveland Browns and Indians, and Notre Dame sports.

Visitation with the family will be on Friday, November 6, 2009 from 3 to 8 PM at Traunero Funeral Home, 214 South Monroe St., Tiffin, Ohio, 44883, 419-447-3113. The 4th Degree Knights of Columbus will stand Honor Guard from 6 to 8 PM.

Prayers will be said at 9:30 AM, Saturday, November 7, 2009 at the funeral home, followed by the funeral Mass at 10 AM at St. Mary Catholic Church with the Rev. Gary Walters officiating. The rosary will be recited 20 minutes prior to the Mass at the church. Burial will be immediately following in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery, with military rites conducted by the United Veteran’s Council.

Contributions may be made to Calvert Catholic Schools, F.A.C.T., or to a charity of the Donor’s Choice in care of Traunero Funeral Home.
