Francis Leroy “PeeWee” Temple, 67, of 1335 Lynch’s Corner Road, Elizabeth City, NC died Friday, October 23, 2009. He was born on February 24, 1942, in Pasquotank County, NC to the late Deronda Cortez Temple, Sr. and the late Eula Evelyn Granger Temple and was the husband of Ethel Lou Foskey Temple of the residence. Mr. Temple was previously a self-employed logger and most recently, he was employed with Swain & Temple Logging Company. He was a member and former deacon of Ramoth Gilead Baptist Church, former member of the NC Forestry Association and former member of the Southside Hunt Club.
Besides his wife, he is survived by three daughters, Lisa Temple Foster and husband, Wink, of Elizabeth City, NC, Janet Temple Corey and husband, Charles, of Robersonville, NC and Diana Temple Riddick and husband, Brian, of Sunbury, NC; one son, Scott Leroy Temple and wife, Bonnie, of Elizabeth City, NC; two brothers, Edward Temple of Chesapeake, VA and Henry Temple of Ovett, MS. He is also survived by eight grandchildren, Wesley Temple, Charles Corey, Jr, Blair Riddick, Olivia Temple, Ben Corey, Callie Riddick, Ella Gray Corey, and Addison Foster; also surviving are several special nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by five sisters, Lucy Hudson, Mamie Albertson, Sue Moore, Minnie Sanders and Annie Sue Temple; six brothers, Cortez, James, Deronda, Cecil, Ethelbert, and Cornelius Temple.
Funeral services will be conducted Monday, October 26, 2009 at 11:00am in the Ramoth Gilead Baptist Church by Rev. Toni Wood. Burial will be in the West Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends and relatives at the funeral home Sunday evening from 5:00 until 6:30pm, also following the church service in the church’s family life center and at other times at the residence, 1335 Lynch’s Corner Road, Elizabeth City, NC.
