Native of Currituck County
Charlie Cecil Brickhouse, 91, of 139 Uncle Graham Road, Grandy, NC, passed away in Tennille, Georgia on Monday, October 26, 2009. Born in Jarvisburg, NC, he was the son of the late Albert Brickhouse and the late Emmaline Eure Brickhouse and was the widower of Mrs. Minerva Brickhouse. Mr. Brickhouse was a veteran, having serving in the United States Coast Guard. He had also worked as a hunting and fishing guide and was a member and deacon at Poplar Branch Baptist Church.
Mr. Brickhouse is survived by a daughter, Sandra Brickhouse Farmer of Tennille, GA; two sons, Tilbert Ray Brickhouse of Knoxville, TN and Gilbert J. Brickhouse of Grandy, NC; thirteen grandchildren and nineteen great grandchildren. Along with his parents and his wife, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Verlin Brickhouse Midgett.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, October 30, 2009, at 11:00 a.m., Poplar Branch Baptist Church, 709 Poplar Branch Road, Grandy, NC with Pastor Tom Oliver officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends on Thursday at the funeral home from 6:00 pm until 7:00 pm and at other times at the residence of Mr. Gilbert Brickhouse, 388 Grandy Road, Grandy, NC.
