Alta Jean Gray | | | | | Avon, NC
Alta Jean Holloway Gray, 71, died Wednesday, November 4, 2009 at her residence. Born in Campbell County, TN, she was the daughter of the late Samuel Odell Holloway and the late Marian Hazel Mitchell Holloway. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Billie Jean James; a sister, Ann Fredrickson; a brother, Paul Holloway; and a granddaughter, Samantha Foster.
Mrs. Gray is survived by her husband, Osborne Gibb Gray, Jr. of the residence; two daughters, Suzanne Williams and Kelly Jean Gray both of Avon; three sons, Mitchell C. James of Hatteras, Brian K. James of Buxton, and Shawn James of Chesapeake, VA; one step son, Ozzie Gray of Jarvisburg; eleven grandchildren, including a special granddaughter, Savannah Mulder, who was raised by Mrs. Gray; and seven great grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held at St. Johns United Methodist Church on Tuesday, November 10, 2009 at 2:00 pm. Burial will be in the Family Cemetery, Avon. The family will receive friends at the church on Monday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 pm.
