Lawrence W. & Margaret R. Underwood, both entered eternal life on Thursday, March 26, 2009; Margaret, 3:27 A.M. at Union Hospital in Terre Haute, Lawrence, 10:34 A.M. at Glenburn Home in Linton.
Lawrence was born in Dana on April 2, 1927, the son of Edwin W. & Floy Ethel (Owens) Underwood. He served in the United States Navy during World War II. He retired from Coca-Cola. He was a member of the Pleasantville United Methodist Church & the Montezuma Masonic Lodge #89.
Margaret was born in Chicago, IL on August 16, 1931, the daughter of Max & Anna (Maurer) Allgower. She worked at JC Penny in Linton, and retired from Coca-Cola in Linton. She was a member of the Pleasantville United Methodist Church.
Survivors include their children, Lisa Rupska of Linton & Eric Erdmann of Mooresville, NC, grandchildren, Brandon W. Erdmann, Jessica (Andy) Bright, Dylan & Dane Rupska, and a great-grandson, Jack Bright. Lawrence is also survived by two daughters from a previous marriage, and a sister, Eileen Hickman of Walla Walla, Washington.
Lawrence was preceded in death by his parents and his deceased wife, Betty Jean Underwood. Margaret was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband, Wayne Erdmann, and a sister, Marianne O’Haver.
Lawrence & Margaret’s funeral service will be held at the Welch & Cornett Funeral Home in Linton at 1:00 P.M. Monday, March 30, 2009. Burial will follow at the Fairview Cemetery in Linton with Military Graveside Rites conducted for Lawrence by the American Legion Post #22 of Linton.
Their visitation will be held Sunday from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M., and Monday from 11:30 A.M. until the time of service.
